What does a typical day in your role look like?
No two days are the same, especially as the season progresses. I’m often out in the orchard collecting data and observing the crop, which frequently involves gathering fruit samples. After that, I collate the data and results, then share the findings with growers through reports, field days, and research updates.
How did you get into this role?
I began my journey as a seasonal kiwifruit worker and quickly realised I wanted to be part of the industry long-term. I gained experience through a variety of roles, which eventually led me to focus on the science side of kiwifruit production.
Did you need to study for this role, if so, what did you study?
I studied Horticultural Fruit Production.
What do you enjoy most about your work?

What’s something unique, surprising, or fun about your role or team?
My role involves working closely with those involved in pre-commercial kiwifruit varieties, which is an exciting and innovative space to be part of.
