What does a typical day in your role look like?

My key responsibilities include developing the Market Development Framework—a tool used to guide decisions on where to send our fruit to maximise grower returns—and implementing the 10-Year Plan. This plan reflects the framework and includes forecasts for OGR, supply vs demand, and recommendations for license release hectares to the board.

How did you get into this role?

I previously worked in post-harvest at EastPack and studied Finance & Commercial Law, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Agribusiness.

Finance & Commercial Law degree and Agribusiness postgraduate diploma.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

Being part of Global Strategy means I get to work with Zespri staff around the world. Each office is full of great people, and I really enjoy collaborating with them—there are plenty of characters!

What’s something unique, surprising, or fun about your role or team?

The kiwifruit industry in New Zealand is unique, and being involved in shaping the strategy for future success is incredibly rewarding. There are no limits to where we can go as an industry that punches well above its weight globally.

What advice would you give someone interested in your role or career path?

Having a post-harvest background has been key to my success. Understanding the industry and being passionate about it are essential if you want to thrive in this kind of role.
