Schools & training / Careers / Post-Harvest Worker

Post-Harvest Worker

What does a typical day in your role look like?

I usually arrive early to make sure everything is ready for production. My day involves checking on staff welfare, health and safety, managing budgets, and planning operations. I coordinate closely with the quality team, EDI, and coolstore, and I also communicate regularly with growers. It’s a hands-on role that requires strong organisation and teamwork.

How did you get into this role?

I gained experience in various roles within the kiwifruit industry and have a background in business management, which helped me step into this position.

Did you need to study for this role, if so, what did you study?

No formal study was required.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I really enjoy the positive working environment at Seeka. The people are lovely and always willing to help—it makes coming to work enjoyable.

What’s something unique, surprising, or fun about your role or team?

Every day brings its own fun and surprises. There’s always something new happening, which keeps things interesting.

What advice would you give someone interested in your role or career path?

There are so many different roles in the kiwifruit industry. Once you’re in, you’ll find lots of opportunities to grow and move into different areas—you’re never stuck in one place.

Anything else that you would like to add?

I love the kiwifruit industry. I’ve been part of it for 7–8 years now, and every year brings new challenges, both in the orchards and inside the packhouse.
