Machinery/Spray Operator
What does a typical day in your role look like?
I spend most of my day keeping the orchards looking great. That usually includes mowing, mulching, weed spraying, and canopy spraying. It’s hands-on work that keeps me outdoors and active.
How did you get into this role?
I started by driving harvest tractors and trailers, which gave me a good introduction to orchard work and machinery.
Did you need to study for this role, if so, what did you study?
No formal study was required.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy being able to look back at the work I’ve done and feel a sense of accomplishment—or even critique it to see how I can do better next time.
What’s something unique, surprising, or fun about your role or team?
I get to drive a range of machines and learn how to operate new ones. My team is a fun, supportive group of people I’d honestly call family.
What advice would you give someone interested in your role or career path?
Be keen to learn—there’s always something new to pick up. The more you’re willing to learn, the more you’ll grow in this role.
