Infrastructure Engineer
What does a typical day in your role look like?
Right now, a lot of my focus is on our Network Segmentation Project across all Seeka sites. My day typically involves handling Tier 3 tickets or escalations, responding to any issues flagged by our monitoring systems overnight, and working closely with the younger members of the team—including Helpdesk and Systems Engineers.
I also spend time configuring firewalls and switches, with a strong focus on network security. Alongside that, I’m involved in various IT projects that support the business.
How did you get into this role?
I was the IT Manager at Residential Building Services Ltd for 11 years. I wanted to return to more hands-on work with network design and configuration, so I reached out to contacts at Seeka and secured a position here.
Did you need to study for this role, if so, what did you study?
No formal study required.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy troubleshooting, designing, and configuring systems—especially when it comes to improving Seeka’s network security.
What advice would you give someone interested in your role or career path?
Pursue industry certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, or Citrix. These are highly valuable and will help you build the technical foundation needed for this kind of role.
