Grower Services Manager
What does a typical day in your role look like?
I lead the Grower Services team at Hume Pack, so I spend a lot of time out on orchard with our reps and growers. Our goal is to help growers produce the best possible crop and maximise returns, so we offer advice and support to achieve that. I also manage the marketing and advertising for Hume Pack, which involves working with others in the community. On top of that, I look after a small portfolio of growers myself to stay connected with what’s needed from my team.
How did you get into this role?
I worked as a Grower Rep at Apata for several years before joining Hume Pack as Manager in 2024. Before that, I studied international business and finance at university and spent a few years working in banking.
Did you need to study for this role, if so, what did you study?
Not necessarily, but I studied commerce at Victoria University and completed a horticulture certificate through Toi Ohomai.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I’m a people person through and through, so I love spending time on orchard with growers and my team. I also enjoy leading and upskilling others, helping to create future leaders. My role gives me the chance to be involved in different areas of the industry and stay up to date with the latest news and developments.
What’s something unique, surprising, or fun about your role or team?
Our team is made up of people from all different backgrounds, ages, and stages of life. That diversity keeps things interesting and brings a wide range of perspectives to the table.
What advice would you give someone interested in your role or career path?
Take time to learn and lead — professional development and hands-on experience are both important. Be patient, as nothing happens overnight. Figure out what motivates you and lean into that.
