Drone Technician
What does a typical day in your role look like?
I start early in the morning by preparing gear, planning the day’s flight and checking weather conditions at the job site. Once on site, I perform pre-flight checks and confirm the chemical mix rates to be used. We then determine the safest flight path to complete the job. After the work is done, we return to base, clean the equipment, and plan for the next day’s operations.
How did you get into this role?
I’ve worked in the helicopter spraying industry and became interested in drone technology as it started to grow.
Did you need to study for this role, if so, what did you study?
Yes, I completed a Part 102 training course, earned a chemical rating, passed an occupational awareness assessment, and completed agricultural training.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy being part of a new and rapidly growing industry.

I get to meet new people and work in different locations, which keeps things interesting and varied.
