Communications Manager
What does a typical day in your role look like?
I manage media enquiries, analyse industry issues, produce grower communications, and advise leadership on positioning. My work involves staying across current events, crafting clear messaging, and ensuring growers are informed and represented.
How did you get into this role?
I started in marketing, then moved into corporate communications — first internal, then external. I worked as a spokesperson before joining NZKGI.
Did you need to study for this role, if so, what did you study?
I hold a PhD in Public Diplomacy.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy how the industry is cyclical yet constantly evolving. There’s always something new to learn and communicate.
What’s something unique, surprising, or fun about your role or team?
We’re a small team, which means everyone knows each other well and there’s a lot of cross-collaboration. It creates a dynamic and supportive working environment.
What advice would you give someone interested in your role or career path?
This role is highly transferable across sectors, so you have flexibility to work in industries that interest you, with people you enjoy working with.
